DELTA INAUGURAL FLIGHT #134 TO MONROVIA, LIBERIA (ROB) TAKES OFF AT 7:30PM


On Saturday, September 4th, 2010, Delta Airlines first flight to Monrovia, Liberia took off at 7:30 p.m. from Atlanta-Jackson International Airport with slightly over 200 passengers on board.

Prior to its scheduled departure, an inaugural flight program was held at departing gate E-9. The program attended by dignitaries of Delta Airlines, friends of Liberia, and Liberians living in Georgia included: Praise dance by ICF Virtue Dancers; remarks from Delta Airlines International Flight Vice President, Liberia’s Honorary Consul General, founder of BET; and ribbon cutting.

Attending the program were: Pastor William B.J. K. Harris, Lama President and Via Governor, Lao Sherman along with his lovely wife Mrs. Janice Pratt Sherman, Dr. Albert Coleman, Mr. Thomas k. Crick of The Carter Center, Mr. & Mrs. Alexander Cummings of Coca Cola Africa, Mrs. Betty Jenkins, Mrs. Marilyn Harris, Mrs. Vero McCay, etc.

Others attending the program and also included as passengers were: Honorary Consul General to Liberia, Mrs. Cynthia Blanford Nash, BET founder, Mr. Robert Johnson, CNN reporters, Mr. Evan Yancy, Ms. Amanda Hill, Dr. James Adama Sirleaf, Pilot Padeh Williams, Essie Gadegbeku, Wilfred Harris, Walter B. Skinner, Sr., Thomas C. Settles - President CEO Omega Paving & Construction Management Group, LLC, Jackie McCay, Jesse Fahnbulleh, Miatta Skinner, Hon Catherine Abelema Afeka , member of Ghana’s Parliament, etc.

Delta Flight #134 was welcomed at Roberts International Airport at 2:45pm (Liberia’s time) on Sunday, September 5th.
