LIBERIA - $30 MILLION LOAN (wow) to Liberia for farm
projects hangs in the balance. Established in 2007 with a $30 million
loan from Libya, the development is based in the Foya region. The
intensive rice cultivation program was/is aimed at making Liberia
self-sufficient in food and providing work for hundreds of young people
affected by civil war. Today, the Program Director has indicated that
Liberia is seeking alternative financing for a further $16 million to
set up a new rice-processing plant and bring the first 4,000 hectares
under cultivation...WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE $30 MILLION THAT WAS
ORIGINALLY ALLOCATED FOR THE FOYA'S PROJECT?
