| KNUCKLES GATE II: THE END OF PATRONAGE POLITICS IN LIBERIA? By: Emmanuel Dolo, Ph. D. (Guest Commentary)In 2005, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, then a candidate, spoke at the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research in Indianapolis, Indiana. “We in Liberia cannot do things the way we have done them before. There has to be a fundamental altering of the way we do things – and that means we will have internal havoc because we must uproot the vested interests that have kept things the way they are for such a long time….” This was powerful and courageous rhetoric. | What a good narative on KnucklegateII. Dr. Dolo has adequately placed into perspective the critical issue of our time and cast aspersion on the mastermind of corruption in Liberia. She pretends to be holy of the holiest and in the nighttime instruct her surrogates to steal and pocket money that they lost some time ago. What a shame and hope come 2011 the Liberian people will reject said behaviour.
As we restore the years that the locust have eaten, i will like to tell Ma Ellen that our stance on zero tolerance for corruption in Liberia will alway remain. | |
