The causes of the collapse of the Liberian state are manifold. Therefore attempts to pinpoint the determining factors are generally unsuccessful or tend to mention some and leave out others. However, social scientists, ranging from economists, political scientists, sociologists, and many others, have in recent years, utilized empirical studies to draw linkages between some major underlying forces of collapsed states.
