LAC Dismisses Its General Services Manager, Dr. Samuel Bennett

The management of the Liberia Agriculture Company (LAC) in District #3, Grand Bassa County has dismissed its General Services Manager, Dr. Samuel G. Bennett.

Confirming this in a press statement, the LAC Management said the dismissal was based on Dr. Bennett’s demonstrated and unacceptable violation of the terms of his employment contract.

In addition to the violation of his contract, the Management said Dr. Bennett took unilateral decisions that potentially endangered the security and operations of the company by recruiting and maintaining a private guard service stationed on the plantation without the prior knowledge and approval of the General Manager and the Management Team.[/size]

The statement said Dr. Bennett’s decision to maintain a private body guard service when the company’s Plant Protection Department had been strengthened with the addition of more personnel and the provision of enhanced security to make them more effective was unacceptable as it sets a precedent incompatible with his contract and administrative policies, as well as the safe and secure work environment the company is striving diligently to create for all its workers, their dependents and managers.

The statement further said that Dr. Bennett repeatedly misrepresented and made commitments on behalf of the company that were not communicated to the Management, adding that such behaviors embarrassed Management and have irreparably destroyed the trust between him and senior managers of the company.

The LAC said that Dr. Bennett’s behavior and relationship with colleagues have been such that he could no longer be expected to be a contributing member of the Management Team.

The Management said it offered Dr. Bennett opportunities to peacefully resolve issues regarding his continued employment with the company, and explained that Dr. Bennett chose the path of confrontation, division, and agitation, and thereby constrained the company to terminate his employment contract.

The LAC Management categorically denied rumors and other reports that suggest that Dr. Bennett’s dismissal was the result of his so-called refusal to sign a document dealing with alleged mining activities on the plantation.

The statement said no manager of LAC or his or her associates have been indirectly or directly involved in any mineral exploration activity in the concession area or in any other parts of Liberia .

The Management said the lies and innuendos are being perpetrated by individuals determined to undermine the operation of LAC.

The company is inviting the press to visit the concession to verify if any mining activity was taking place or not.

In conclusion, the Management said it reserves the right to take steps to correct the gross lies and misinformation being circulated about the company, and warned that such steps could include a robust exposure of the motives of the individuals involved and their associates as well as their nefarious activities.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bennett is yet to make any statement about his dismissal.

I'm very surprised. I never met Sam but I thought he carried himself well on AfricaOnline and on CCL. I used to think I knew his mother but I was wrong. In any event, I am rally interested in hearing the rest of the story.

Just watch...Knowing who Bennett is, this just sounds too unlike him. I am betting on the Bennett I know. And if there are reasons he did certain things, he did them for the correct reasons.

u boy. lac been on some kinda roll these few days. u remember sando, from dogliotti? he was the doctor there. died abt 10 days ago. a senior manager at lac also died within hrs of sando. da my owna kpelle witchcraft story i adding. scratch

add dey nyensua T. u know how we are in liberia. one of the drivers told me that the people from lac were saying...did he think he would survive our witchcraft? only here o but it is sad. on top of that, the doctor's son comes down from school based ont he bad news...a friend of his follows for emotional support. did the cild not die on friday-drowned in the freaking atlantic ocean. our muff close yah. let bennett jes leave it scratch
