| So I visit other forums just to be nosey and see what people talk about. When I go on certain island forums they pretty much downtalk Afriacans.. mostly the men. Saying the women are pretty, but the men are ugly and talk down to and abuse women. I've even heard Geyla :) mention African men don't know how to please their women So as African women do you find African men unattractive and abusive to women, or do you think these people who say this attract certain type of men? Are we collectively that bad? - Quote :
- ethiopia- good times
nigeria(like 3 different times)- better times
ghana- taught me that hiplife is basically soca in a different language...
kenya- lol the one night whine
thats about it.....
they all shared a common dislike for african men from their countries claiming that the men were overbearing, controling, etc... - Quote :
Only because Nica posted the Miss World photos. I was thinking that I know many beautiful African women but few hot African men. - Quote :
- In college, I was very good friends with a guy from Congo. Nice manners and
he was good looking too but I was completely turned off by his accent. - Quote :
- A friend from college and I tried to help out this Nigerian fella
once--bad move. He showed up upstate in sub-zero weather wearing nothing but a long sleeved t-shirt, so we gave him a winter coat and took him shopping for supplies. After that, he would call my dorm room and say things like:
"God's Power (that was his name) is coming to your room. You will take God's Power to the Walmart."
and if I refused:
"You are rude. Why American girl think they can say no to God's Power?" - Quote :
- I've never dated an African but I was friends with a guy from Cameroon
and he was starting to act like he was my bodyguard. .... That annoyed me a lot because I like to be by myself and dude always wanted to be around me. - Quote :
- I have dated a couple of East Africans, but am attracted to men from
Senegal (tall, bleck, beaaaaautiful men) and a tribe or two from Liberia (very cute, but most of the time too short), and there is that one Ghanaian..but I digress. The men I have dated are mostly ex-pats raised in US or UK, not very different than any non-American men I have dated, though they tend to be more protective and polite. | |

| DSP (half-face) , collectively no group of people should be judged like that. african brothers are our primary source of love, comfort and companionship. i am more comfortable given the similarities in culture esp for liberian men. a man who acts like he is a bodyguard may just want to be with his girlfriend and has been socialized in that direction. not worried about accent and the other superficials. more interested in honesty, trust and being with someone who is emotionally available in a fun way (all this that just talk na because i am not looking ). the downside for me with some african men (including some of our liberian brothers) is not height or accent...more about respect and recognition of the equality that exists between the two sexes. if a man carves out certain spaces for me because i am a woman, i have no TOLERANCE for that one. for ex...i am supposed to do domestic work, take care of kids, don't be too committed and ambitious professionally-i will shoot you down (meaning i will leave that relationship ) in a second. see me as an equal, letz love and respect each other and quit fela's version of love (google: Lady ) and we will be fine. so yes...the senegalese are dark, tall and chocolate but there is more to our brothers than that and we love them! | |
