Omari Jackson Hosts Internet Radio Show & Website
Press release
The www.Libwebradio.com, one of the leading web radio organizations, will launch a sports show, titled: LIBWEBRADIO SPORTS every Saturday from 5pm to 6pm and will be hosted by journalist and author Omari Jackson, a press release has said.
The release also announced the launching of a sports website, (www.liberian360.com), also to be managed by Omari Jackson, and will feature sporting news, commentaries and analysis on Liberian and African sports and sportsmen and women.
The official launching of the Talk Show and Website is Saturday, June 25 2011.
Journalist Jackson, the release said, described his role with www.Libwebradio.com as challenging, but a welcome venture to support the development of sports in Liberia, and by keeping into focus Liberian athletes at home and abroad.
The promotion of Liberian athletes, he said, “will be paramount in this challenging task.”
He said the radio show and the website should be seen as new additions in the promotion of Liberian sports and sports men and women.
He said Liberians must participate in the inter-media revolution that is fast catching up with the rest of the world.
He said, “Our goal is to ensure the development of all athletes from the various sporting organizations in Liberia.”
In this, he said, emphasis “will be placed in the development of the individual athlete, whose personal sacrifice is the source of any success or failure of sports in the country.”
He urged journalists and sports enthusiasts who are concerned by the low-level of sports development in Liberia to join him by sending articles and commentaries to the website, as well as calling in on the talk show and offering their candid opinions that may direct the attention of sports administrators, fans and athletes in doing their best for Liberian sports men and women.
Omari Jackson is a long time sports writer, whose career began with the Daily Star, then moved on to the Daily Observer, and later worked for The News and The New Democrat Weekly (all in Liberia) where he served as sports editor.
He is one of the pioneers of the founding of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia, and was with the national soccer team, Lone Star, at its first participation at the prestigious African Cup of Nations, CAN in South Africa in 1996.
He has won several sports writing awards, from the Press Union of Liberia, The Liberia National Olympic Committee and the Liberia Football Association.
Presently domiciling in the State of Georgia, Jackson attended the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, Greece and also attended his first Olympia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, as a credited writer to the Liberian delegation to the Games.
He is a graduate of the Longridge Writers Group of Connecticut, US, where he has specialized in short story and novel writing.
He said, “It is my dream to share my experience as a writer with colleagues and interested ones at home one day in Liberia.”
Said Kaifa Yama, an official of www.LIBWEBRADIO.COM, “We at LIBWEB are thrilled of Mr. Jackson’s association with us, and with his experience all of us will make positive contributions to sports in Liberia.”
Jackson presently is a contributing writer at www.theLiberianjournal.com and he manages his personal blog at http://ojacksomaz8.wordpress.com.
He is also the author of THE FINAL MARATHON, and FEAR BEFORE SUNDOWN to be released in paperback soon.
