Pondering the Responsibilities and Obligations of a News Organ: The FrontpageAfrica (FPA) Case

HodgeDoes an independent news organ have a responsibility to kill or sit on a story because its full revelation may uncover a major scandal that may harm the reputation of a government? In my opinion, the answer to this question is a resounding no. An independently owned newspaper should hold no loyalty to a government. A newspaper should never appoint itself a guardian of the government.
