Why are the liberian people treating Akon like a Mega superstar.....?
But an Artist like Emmerson who music we connect to on a deeper level...An artist that makes music which pleasantly appeals to our innermost souls.....Music that shifts our mood from bad to good instantly....Why we dont support these Artist like we do with the American Artist?
Is it because Akon is making music so thats connected to the American culture....When will we stop this western cultural importation and start buying and suppoting locally....We will never elevate culturally and socially unless we shift our paradigms
That's my beef.... | |

That's my beef.... I agree and the attitude that America owes Liberia something...they don't owe is $hit. but the Nigerians are the worst when it comes to Western worship

| Music cut across boundaries. I like Borbor Belleh, but when you compare it to "Locked Up" or "they dont want to see us together" or "Blame it on me", then that is where I start to be Liberian.....lol | |

| If Akon was making music specific to African culture..Even though he has a nice voice (I agree)...Would he be given this mega star treatment in Liberia.....???
I cant tell you how many time I've run into this dude(Akon) in the clubs in atlanta...Very cool dude down to earth....But trust me people dont worship him in the ATL....In the "A" He's just another brother hustlin

| MTV and BET play in the US for the US audience. Go to Du Plateau in Ivory coast or the PanAf Festival in Ghana and see all those Af videos you see on Youtube. Af people be there the same way... In Togo, I went to a similar gig like MTV or BET live and it was off the chain... | |

| Wonderbra, you are right. When Sundaygar came here and we implored him to sing some of his old songs, especially "baboon ehn all want be president" he flat out did not want to do it. He said the songs did not represent the image he wanted to project again. | |

| Great photos. I think Akon is A-1 artist who has only begun to show us his potential. Liberians shouldn't be worshipping artists, but the Creator. But Appreciation should be given to ANY artist who will expend the time and energy to travel to Liberia to entertain...whatever his or her genre or musical flavor is. Akon is a cool cat. Though not worshipped in ATL is is very well respected in the industry. He pulls a lot of weight in the publishing sector of the biz which is where the real money and influence is. He has put on several new artists and is always opento new ones. The DJ, Bennie D, in the phots is from St. Thomas. I know him (Bennie) personally as my company produced a CD with him and a couple of kids you will be hearing a lot from called Rock City (formerly 2EK). Liberian artists need that kind of hook up to get exposure and take the music to another level. It's all good. | |

He was in ellen's team, so who all da wuh baboon. how many candidates? Remember? On the song, he said one of the candidates promised to build a bridge across the sea." Another one said he will provide plastic bag for each citizen so that they can poopoo inside, this eliminating the poopoo business in NKT and Popo beach... Ask Belleh
