United People’s Party Progressive Action CommitteeUPP/PACOAtlantic City, New JerseyAtlantic City NJ 11/21/09: The United People’s PartyProgressive Action Committee (UPP-PACO) in the United States of Americas after careful deliberation will like to
denounce the decision of the
Alliance for Peace and Democracy (APD) in endorsing the candidacy of Mr. Clemenceau Urey as
Junior Senator for Montserrado County in the second round of the senatorial
election slated for Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
UPP-PACO being a part of the Alliance for Peace and Democracy (APD) supported Partisan Wilson
k. Tarpeh in the first round of the senatorial election on November 10, 2009.
After the voting process, it was announced by the National Election Commission
that no candidate had 50% or above thereby paving the way for a second round.
The National Election Commission also announced that Mrs. Geraldine Doe-Sheriff
won first round.
UPP-PACO members in the United States
dissociate herself from the APD
decision base on the following reasons:
- That the leadership of UPP in Monrovia failed to consult UPP members in the United States;
- That the decision didn’t reflect the dream and aspiration of the majority of UPP members in the United States;
- That the decision was made on selfish motives;
- That the decision doesn’t represent the spirit and intent of UPP as grass root political institution.
UPP-PACO members in the United States are calling on all members of UPP to vote their
conscience by supporting the majority decision coming from the first round of
the Montserrado County senatorial election.
